About

Welcome peoples!

I live in Chicago and I’m an engineering graduate student.  I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area (yAY Area!) and eventually made it out to the Midwest.  Why am I in the Midwest? Don’t ask me why.  I used to hate living in Chicago, but now I am completely in love with this city.  The winters are pretty harsh, but that makes the warm summer months that much more special!

Why am I doing this?

When I’m not trying to culture cells and snythesize crazy polymer concoctions, I love taking photos!  I’ve taken a few photography classes on the side throughout the years, but I’m still very much the amateur photographer.  I recently upgraded to a Canon t2i (my baby!) and I absolutely love it.  Sometimes I wish I could have tried studying an artsy subject like photography or perhaps tried out something other than engineering?  I love looking at photoblogs and learning about other people’s sources of inspiration.

I started theburntcheese as a photoblog and online journal to share my favorite photos, current events, happy memories and sometimes rants.  I often use the word “cheese” to describe the silly, stupid and dorky things I do.  I guess “cheese” is an excuse for failure at being cool?  Oh well, who cares?  The “burnt” part of the title just sounded and tasted cool.  Once I get out of the impoverishment of graduate school, I hope to one day upgrade to flashier and fancier lenses.  In the meantime, I’ll try to keep my blog updated with random photos I feel like sharing with the greater peoples of the internet.  Take a look around and I hope you enjoy what I have to share. smiles : ]

~cheers~
